Pacific Island Models

Models made for the various Virtual Staff Rides (VSR) set in the Pacific Ocean conducted by the Army University Press' Staff Ride Team.
Some staff rides these were made for are Munda Point, Buna, and Noemfoor Island.
The program used to create the staff ride is the Bohemia Interactive Simulations program, Virtual Battlespace 3(VBS). Due to the program's constraints, the models are supposed to be low poly with low resolution texture maps.
Unfortunately, VBS does not allow any maps other than the albedo map, so any detail has to be hand painted in, and due to the poly constraints, I have to rely on texturing to make them look like they have depth. VBS also has subpar lighting, so most of the shadows on the model itself are hand painted. It also does not like transparency or what is supposed to be a window or mirror surface. Some extra shenanigans have to be done in Photoshop to make the Bohemia programs read the texture correctly before it can be in VBS.

First off, I want to thank Carlo Cestra https://carlocestra.artstation.com/ for his awesome Oerlikon 20mm model. I had to come up with one last minute, and thanks to him putting up a free model, I was able to alter it to what was needed for my project. Here's the direct link to the asset on the Store: https://www.artstation.com/marketplace/p/WLD7/oerlikon-20mm-anti-aircraft-gun

As irritating as VBS and its constraints can be, I did enjoy getting to make things other than buildings. I enjoyed the variety of models.

These are two of the three specific plane models. There isn't any real difference besides some markings.

We only needed the destroyed version, but I made a full version if needed in the future. There's not as much debris as I'd like, but for the sake of the polycount, I left it as it currently is.

Because viewers will never see the bottom of the ship, any details that may have been there were not added.

The OG model I used in order to make this lower poly version can be found here: https://www.artstation.com/marketplace/p/WLD7/oerlikon-20mm-anti-aircraft-gun

A HUGE thanks to Carlo for putting this model up for the public.

Like the LCI, any details that are on the bottom of the landing craft were not added.

The trees were made using TreeIt. It was my first time using the program, but I think with practice I'll get better at making trees.
